Camp Information
HOOPLA! camps are here for you, offering both a developmental basketball program and a traditional camp setting combined!
- An experienced basketball coach supervises each session.
- Each camper receives both individual and group training from our enthusiastic staff of instructors and assistants.
- Each camper receives a written evaluation from their coach.
- Campers still have time to enjoy various activities not related to basketball.
Camps will be held on the campus of Mount Zion Christian Academy, located in the heart of Durham, North Carolina.
Camp hours are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Extended care hours are available through 5:30 pm. Lunch is included. Additional snacks and drinks may be purchased onsite.

Focus on Skills Development
Our camps are structured as teaching camps in order to excite kids about the game of basketball. They are not overly competitive. Daily skill development sessions will help kids learn the fundamentals of the game:

Frequently Asked Questions
What should my child bring to camp each day?
Your child should bring a towel and dress comfortably in shorts, a t-shirt, socks, and sneakers. All campers must provide proof of insurance at registration.
Is transportation provided?
No. HOOPLA! does not provide transportation to and from camps.
Is lunch provided?
Yes. Lunch is provided daily.
Are additional refreshments available?
Yes. Refreshments may be purchased on site.
May I pay for additional refreshments for my child in advance?
Yes. We offer the "HOOPLA! Snack Bank." Parents may pay for their child's refreshments in advance, up to a maximum of $5.00 daily. The information is logged in a database, and deductions are made as your child makes purchases. Remaining balances are forwarded to the next day. Funds remaining at the close of a Friday session are refunded to the parent.
How early can my child arrive and what time must he/she be picked up?
Campers should generally arrive between 8:30 am and 8:55 am. Early drop off is available for an additional fee. Campers are dismissed promptly at 3:00 pm each day, and should be picked up no later than 3:15 pm. Campers remaining after that time will be assessed a late fee commensurate with the extended care rates.
My child wants to be in the same group as his/her friend. Is this possible?
If ages are similar, campers are usually assigned to the same teaching group, and may therefore be in the same group as their friends. If not, please speak with the camp director.
Is the camp extremely competitive?
Not entirely. Our camps focus on skill development. Ten campers are usually assigned to a team, and everyone must play for at least half the game. Four leagues are normally avaialble at each session. Only the Championship games are extremely competitive.
May I cancel my registration?
Registration may be cancelled at any time. All deposits are non-refundable.
Are the facilities air-conditioned?
All facilities are air-conditined. Outdoor activities are conducted on some days, weather permitting.
What is "Camper's Choice?"
"Camper's Choice" is a block of time set aside for each camper to choose from a variety of traditional camp activities to parcitipate in. A fun, basketball-related contest is still offered at this time for campers who prefer to keep their focus on basketball.
